The Southern New Hampshire University softball team topped Felician 3-2 on Thursday in Melbourne, Fla. The Penmen could not complete the sweep, falling 8-7 to Cedarville University in the second game of the day.

GAME 1: SNHU 3, Felician 2
- This was the first of three meetings with the Golden Falcons - SNHU will play a doubleheader at Felician on March 20.
- A pair of walks to senior Jordyn Resetar (Hanover, Pa.) and junior Peyton Feldman (Foxboro, Mass.) started the game, and Bruggeman followed with a single to load the bases.
- Demoura singled to make it 1-0 and the Penmen added a run as Donovan reached on a fielders choice.
- SNHU scored its other run in the top of the fifth inning. Feldman reached on an error, Bruggeman doubled, and DeMoura grounded out as Feldman scored to make it 3-0.
- A two-out triple by Kimberly Torres produced the first run for Felician in the bottom of the fifth.
- Felician scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning after an SNHU error, but Freitas retired the three and four hitters in the Golden Falcons line-up on a fly out and pop out to preserve the 3-2 win.
- Freitas (W, 2-2) went the distance in the circle for the Penmen.
- Felician outhit the Penmen 6-4 for the game. Riley Williams allowed two earned in runs in her seven innings for the Golden Falcons.
- SNHU now leads the all-time series 3-1.
GAME 2: Cedarville 8, SNHU 7
- The Penmen were six outs from completing a sweep of the day, leading the Yellow Jackets 7-1, but Cedarville scored five times in the sixth inning and walked-off the Penmen with a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh.
- SNHU again opened an early 2-0 lead. Donovan tripled in the second and scored on a groundout by Lineman.
- Jenkins singled, stole second, and scored on a single up the middle for sophomore Mikaya Alto (Chelmsford, Mass.).
- SNHU extended the lead in the fourth on an RBI single by Feldman.
- Cedarville scored in the bottom of the fourth to make it 2-1.
- The Penmen scored five times in the top of the sixth on six hits with DeMoura, Donovan, Lineman, and Alto all driving in runs.
- Cedarville responded by sending nine to the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the lead to 7-6.
- SNHU threatened in the top of the seventh inning with a two-out single by Bruggeman and a double by DeMoura, but did not score.
- The Lady Jackets tied the game on a single by Ella Leonard and won on a groundout by Emilie Fout.
- Sophomore Julianna Colbert (Burrillville, R.I.) took the loss, falling to 1-1.
- Cedarville earned its first win against the Penmen in three tries. The teams met Thursday for the first time in 10 years.
NOTES
- The Penmen had a triple in each game - with Resetar delivering against Felician and Donovan in the Cedarville game.
- Bruggeman has hits in all eight games and leads the Penmen with a .419 average. She has five doubles among her 13 hits.
- It was a tough day in the field for the Penmen, making three errors in each game leading to three unearned runs.
- The Penmen have drawn 33 walks in the first eight games of the season while striking out 30 times.

- SNHU will be back at the Space Coast Complex in Melbourne, Florida on Friday to play Mercy University (11:30 a.m.) and the University of Bridgeport (1:30 p.m.).
