#7/8 Pace Pulls Away Late to Beat Men's Lacrosse 13-8

SNHU battles NE10 unbeaten tough on Saturday

Southern New Hampshire men's lacrosse was within one goal of #7/8 Pace University late in the third quarter, but the Setters held sway for a 13-8 win over the Penmen on Saturday at Ouellette Stadium.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
  • Freshman Blake Wozniak (Garden Grove, Calif.) - 2 goals, 3 ground balls
  • Junior Aiden Blouin (Barre, Vt.) - 2 goals, 1 ground ball, 1 caused turnover
  • Sophomore Sean Dwyer (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) - 1 goal, 1 assist
  • Sophomore Luke Wiedemann (Cheshire, Conn.) - 1 ground ball, 2 caused turnovers
KEY MOMENTS
  • After falling behind 2-0, the Penmen scored back-to-back goals from Dwyer and Blouin before Pace's Caden Hallinan scored with four seconds left in the first.
  • Wozniak and redshirt freshman Joey Gallo (Derry, N.H.) gave the Penmen a 4-3 lead with 4:31 to play in the half and the game was tied at 5-5 at halftime after a goal by Blouin (from Dwyer) with 1:19 left.
  • SNHU would close to within 9-8 after a man-down goal by senior Christian Perez (Methuen, Mass.) and a goal by senior Travis Brown (Windham, Maine) with 3:31 left in the third.
  • Jackson Bulger scored two goals within five minutes and Pace kept the Penmen off the board during the 4-0 run that sealed the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Pace had a 47-29 shot advantage, 39-20 on ground balls, and 13-9 on face offs.
  • SNHU was successful on 16-of-17 clears while the Setters were 17-of-23, but the Penmen had more turnovers 23-17.
  • Sophomore Matt Roy (North Andover, Mass.) made eight saves for the Penmen.
  • Pace goalkeeper Jack Kern made five saves.
  • Will Danowski of Pace had four goals and three assists for a game-high seven points.
NOTES
  • This was the fourth of four consecutive contests against nationally-ranked opponents. 
  • Pace leads the all-time series 18-7 and has won seven consecutive meetings.
UP NEXT
  • The Penmen are scheduled to play one more game at Ouellette Stadium this season.  They will host Franklin Pierce University at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday 4/9.  The Penmen will honor its seniors prior to the game at 5:30 p.m.
