MANSFIELD, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire University had four of its winter student-athletes recognized with NE10 Academic All-Conference honors Thursday.
Sophomore Collin Berke (Crofton, Md.) and junior Kurt Watson (London, Ontario) took up two of the six men's ice hockey spots. Berke adds to his list of 2024-25 accolades that includes NE10 Goaltender of the Year, NE10 All-Conference First Team and Joe Concannon Award semifinalist. The three-time NE10 Goaltender of the Week (Nov. 24, Jan. 20, Feb. 3) started 21 of the 23 games he played in, finishing 12-7-2 with five shutouts. Berke stopped 640 of 687 shots over 1265:34 for a .932 save percentage and 2.23 GAA. He led the NE10 in shutouts, while ranking second in GAA and minutes, and third in save percentage and total saves. Berke is an accounting and finance major with a 3.98 grade point-average (GPA).
Watson, a sport management major with a 3.89 GPA, played in all 29 games for the Penmen, totaling 16 points on a team-leading nine goals and seven assists. Watson ranked seventh in the NE10 with three power-play goals.
Junior Meghan Gordon (Attleboro, Mass.) was one of 10 women's basketball student-athletes to receive the honors. Gordon, who was also a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team honoree last month, receives the NE10 accolade for the second straight season. The biology major with a 3.93 GPA led the team with 11.9 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 42.3 percent (126-298) from the field and 78 percent (64-82) from the stripe. Gordon finished 11th in the league in rebounding and 13th in scoring and field goal percentage.
Sophomore Aveline McCabe (White Bear Lake, Minn.), an environmental science major with a concentration in wildlife and conservation biology, was one of 14 women's indoor track & field student-athletes to receive the nod. McCabe, the NE10 Elite 24 Award winner at the NE10 Championships, finished ninth at NE10s in the 5000m (19:52.70) and 13th in the 3000m (11:33.30).
To be eligible for selection to NE10 Academic All-Conference teams, a student-athlete must have met or exceeded the following minimum requirements:
- Started in at least half or played in at least two-thirds of the team's competitions as a significant contributor.
- Achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) or better on a 4.0 scale.
