Junior Carlos Molero (Barcelona, Spain) won a pair of matches, including a No. 3 singles tilt that gave the Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team a 3-2 lead, but Bentley University rallied for a 4-3 victory Saturday at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.
KEY MOMENT
- The match was tied, 3-3, with No. 5 singles serving as the deciding point in the match. Sophomore Sebastian Eckert (Wernigerode, Germany) took a 7-6 (7-1) lead over Albert Soukup, but Soukup bounced back with a 6-3 win in the second set and clinched the victory with 6-4 triumph in the third.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire begins the season with an NE10 loss for the first time since Sept. 26, 2009, when it lost to Bentley, 9-0.
- SNHU leads the all-time series with Bentley, 19-10, but sees its 15-match winning streak halted, as the Falcons take down the Penmen for the first time since April 15, 2015 in Manchester (6-3). SNHU had also won nine-in-a-row at home in the series.
