Graduate student Martin Fuentes (Pamplona, Spain) notched a pair of second-half goals, but the sixth-ranked Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer team settled for a 2-2 tie with Southern Connecticut State University on Friday evening at Jess Dow Field.
KEY MOMENTS
  • SNHU trailed, 1-0, for nearly the entire opening half, but Fuentes tied it just 2:07 into the second half and then put the Penmen in front less than eight minutes later.
NOTES
  • Southern New Hampshire, ranked sixth in the United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25, is unbeaten through its first six matches for the second time in three seasons.
  • Southern Connecticut leads the all-time series, 30-21-9. SNHU has captured 13 of the last 17 meetings and is unbeaten in 16 of the last 19 (13-3-3). The Owls are 22-6-5 at home against the Penmen, but SNHU is now unbeaten in eight of the last 10 there (5-2-3).
  • Graduate student Chus Ortega (Santander, Spain) and junior Charlie Preus (London, U.K.) each assisted on a goal.
  • All three of Fuentes' goals this season have come in the last three days. He now has 10 in two seasons with the Penmen.
  • Senior Philipp Herrmann (Bruckmuehl, Germany) has his five-match, goal-scoring streak to begin the year halted.
  • Graduate goalkeeper Alvaro Garcia (Castelldefels, Spain) made one save.
  • SNHU is 149-39-29 (.753) over its last 217 matches dating back to the beginning of the 2013 National Championship season.
