Sophomore Kameron St. Pierre (Swansea, Mass.) matched a career-high with 14 points to lead a balanced offensive effort as the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team pulled away for a 75-56 Northeast 10 Conference victory over Saint Anselm College on Tuesday evening at the Stan Spirou Field House.
Senior Meghan Gordon (Attleboro, Mass.) added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds as five different Penmen reached double figures in scoring.
KEY MOMENTS
- Saint Anselm led briefly late in the opening quarter, but Southern New Hampshire closed the period within one and then took control with a 20-2 run in the second quarter to lead 40-28.
- The Penmen outscored the Hawks, 27-14, hitting on 11-of-20 shots including four three-pointers, two by St. Pierre who had 10 points in the half.
- SNHU continued to extend the margin in the third quarter, pushing the lead to as many as 18 points before heading into the final period ahead, 59-46.
NOTES
- St. Pierre was 6-for-13 from the field and added eight rebounds off the bench, also a career-best.
- Gordon finished 5-for-15 shooting and added two blocks and a steal to record her second double-double of the season.
- Graduate student Sydnie DeVries (Monson, Mass.) scored 10 points on 4-for-5 shooting and grabbed six rebounds.
- Sophomore Taylor Brennan (Southbury, Conn.) contributed 11 points, four rebounds and four assists
- Sophomore Samantha Pfeil (Methuen, Mass.) chipped in 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting.
- Southern New Hampshire held a 51-34 rebounding advantage and scored 19 second-chance points.
- The Penmen shot 47.0 percent from the field and limited Saint Anselm to 30.9 percent shooting.
- The Hawks still lead the all-time series 54-26. The Penmen have won five of the last seven meetings.
