Jojo Wallace (Milford, Conn.) scored a game-high 20 points, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's basketball team saw Adelphi University rally down the stretch for a 63-59 victory Saturday at the Center for Recreation and Sport.
KEY MOMENTS
- In a game that saw 14 lead changes and nine ties, Southern New Hampshire held a one-point lead with less than four minutes remaining, but Adelphi scored seven of the next nine points to grab a 57-53 advantage with under two minutes on the clock and SNHU would never find itself in front again.
- A layup from Senior T.J. Morris (Jamaica, N.Y.) with seven seconds left pulled the Penmen within a pair at 61-59, but the Panthers sank a pair of free throws to clinch the win.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has dropped seven of its last 10, five of its last six and four straight.
- It is the first four-game losing streak for the Penmen since Jan. 8-18, 2020.
- Wallace was 6-for-15 from the floor and a perfect 8-for-8 from the stripe. He collected four rebounds and a pair of assists.
- Nwachukwu went 7-for-13 from the field, including 1-for-4 from deep.
- Morris recorded 11 points (3-6 FG, 1-1 3-FG, 4-4 FT), three rebounds and two steals.
- Nwachukwu's double-double is his eighth of the season and 12th of his career.
- SNHU, which leads the all-time series with Adelphi 17-12, has won seven of 13, including five of eight, though the Panthers have now captured two of three. The teams have split the most recent 22 meetings, with the Panthers having won six of the last seven on their home court, including three-in-a-row. The last Penmen victory in Garden City was Feb. 4, 2023 (77-71).
- Wallace has scored in double figures in all 16 contests this season and continues to lead the NE10 in scoring (22.1 ppg).
