Senior Meghan Gordon (Attleboro, Mass.) matched her career high with 23 points and scored her 1,000th career point as the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team won its third straight game, defeating Franklin Pierce University, 70-57, on Wednesday evening at The Fieldhouse.
KEY MOMENTS
- SNHU scored the first four points of the game and later used an 11-2 run midway through the second quarter to open up a double-digit lead. Gordon scored eight points during the surge, including a pair of 3-pointers, as the Penmen built a 27-14 advantage.
- Franklin Pierce closed the half on a 7-2 run to trim the deficit to 31-21 at the break.
- The Ravens pulled within two possessions early in the third quarter, but SNHU responded with back-to-back 3-pointers from junior Ava Winterburn (New Boston, N.H.) to push the lead back to double figures.
- Franklin Pierce again made a push late in the fourth, cutting the margin to nine, before Gordon converted a layup with 3:47 remaining for her 1,000th career point and jump-started a closing run that sealed the victory.

- Gordon finished 10-for-15 from the field and 3-for-4 from beyond the arc, adding eight rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block to her 23-point night.

- Sophomore Kameron St. Pierre (Swansea, Mass.) posted nine points and matched her career best with eight rebounds.
- Graduate student Sydnie DeVries (Monson, Mass.) added seven points and a pair of boards.
- Sophomore Taylor Brennan (Southbury, Conn.) matched a career-best with seven assists while scoring five points and pulling down five boards.
- SNHU shot 50.0 percent from the floor and outrebounded Franklin Pierce, 41-29.
- The Penmen have won 14 of the last 16 meetings with the Ravens. Franklin Pierce has a 61-40 edge in the all-time series that dates back to 1977.
- Meghan Gordon becomes the 20th SNHU player to reach 1,000 points while playing for the Penmen. The most recent to reach that figure was her teammate Adriana Timberlake.
