Jojo Wallace (Milford, Conn.) scored 25 of his game-high 27 points in the second half, as the Southern New Hampshire University men's basketball team whittled a 26-point, second-half deficit down to four, but Pace University would hold off the Penmen for a 68-60 victory Saturday at the Stan Spirou Field House.
KEY MOMENTS
- Southern New Hampshire led by three a little more than seven minutes into the contest when Pace ended the half with a 23-6 barrage that sent it to the locker room with a 32-15 advantage.
- The Setters kicked off the second stanza with a 14-5 run that gave them the largest lead of the day at 46-20 with 11:10 remaining, but SNHU busted out of its offensive slumber with a 22-5 blitz that pulled it within 51-42 with 5:14 to play. Wallace led the way with 12 during the stretch, while senior T.J. Morris (Jamaica, N.Y.) added six.
- Trailing by nine with under a minute to go, the Penmen made things interesting when Wallace dropped in a layup and, following a steal on the ensuing inbounds play, buried a 3-pointer that made it 64-60 with 49 seconds on the clock. Pace made just one of two free throws on back-to-back possessions, but was able to grab the offensive rebound on both occasions to really damage SNHU's chances.
