Junior Jordyn Carroll (Moultonborough, N.H.) recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 21 digs, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team fell to Pace University, 3-1, in its Northeast 10 Conference opener Saturday afternoon at the Stan Spirou Field House.
KEY MOMENTS
- After dropping the opening set, 25-17, SNHU and Pace battled through 11 ties and seven lead changes in the second. The Penmen trailed, 24-23, before a kill from freshman Gianna Greenlaw (Bothell, Wash.) tied it. After Pace evened the set at 25, Carroll delivered a kill to put SNHU back in front and then served an ace to close out the 27-25 victory and even the match, 1-1.
- The Penmen remained close in the third set, pulling within 23-22 on a Carroll kill, before the Setters scored the final two points for a 25-22 win. Pace then captured the fourth set, 25-15, to close out the match.
NOTES
- Saturday's match was the Northeast 10 opener for both teams and was played as part of Women in Sports Day at the Stan Spirou Field House.
- The all-time series is now tied, 13-13, with Pace winning the last three meetings.
- Carroll added two service aces and two block assists to her 13-kill, 21-dig double-double. She hit .250 for the match.
- Freshman Valentina Bugnatto (Wilmington, N.C.) recorded eight kills, while freshman Lonnie Briggs (Omaha, Neb.) added six kills and four digs.
- Freshman Emma Martinez (Plano, Texas) dished out 31 assists and added six digs.
- Fifth year Meri Ibrahimi (Woburn, Mass.) and freshman Greenlaw each collected 13 digs. Greenlaw also served three aces.
- Fifth year Alexandra Friebolin (Plant City, Fla.) registered a match-high four block assists.

- The Penmen are back in action on Tuesday, October 6 (7:00 p.m.) when they are scheduled to host Saint Anselm College.
