Senior Meghan Gordon (Attleboro, Mass.) was one of two Penmen to be honored on Senior Day and then went out and scored a team-high 15 points to lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's basketball team to a 66-44 triumph over Adelphi University on Saturday afternoon at the Stan Spirou Field House.
KEY MOMENTS
- SNHU trailed by two a little more than five minutes into the contest when it ripped off 13 straight as part of a 15-4 run to end the quarter and seize a 21-12 advantage. Junior Madison Hughes (Columbia, Conn.) led the way during the stretch with five points, while Gordon added four.
- The Penmen extended the barrage to 24-6 with a 9-2 flurry – paced by four from junior Ava Winterburn (New Boston, N.H.) – to start the second quarter and open the lead to 30-14 less than three minutes in. SNHU would bring a 42-26 lead to the locker room.
- SNHU netted seven straight to end the third quarter to widen the gap to an even 20 at 52-32.
- Four from Gordon and three from graduate student Sydnie DeVries (Monson, Mass.) powered a 9-0 burst that gave the Penmen their largest lead of the contest at 66-41 with 2:04 on the clock.

- SNHU halts a four-game skid with the decisive win and has now captured six of its last 10.
- Gordon went 7-for-13 from the floor and made her only free throw attempt, while pulling down nine rebounds and blocking a pair of shots.
- Sophomore Taylor Brennan (Southbury, Conn.) tallied 14 points (3-9 FG, 1-4 3-FG, 7-8 FT), eight rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals.
- DeVries posted nine points (2-4 FG, 5-8 FT), two boards and five assists.
- Hughes added eight points (3-8 FG, 2-5 3-FG) and three rebounds.
- SNHU's defense limited Adelphi to just 23 percent (14-61) shooting, including 13.6 percent (3-22) from long distance, and forced 24 turnovers.
- The all-time series is now tied at 11-all, with SNHU winning for the sixth time in the last eight meetings. The teams have split the last 14 matchups. The Penmen have captured three of four at home against Adelphi.
