Women's Tennis Wins Third Straight with 5-2 Victory Over Saint Michael's

Freshmen Megan Leck (Wolviston, Billingham, U.K.) and Eyglo Armannsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) clinched the doubles point with their win at the second flight and were also both victorious in their singles match, as the Southern New Hampshire University women's tennis team recorded a 5-2 triumph over Saint Michael's College on Saturday at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts.

  • Leck and Armannsdottir posted a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles against Emma Gredenhag and Olivia Larsen to clinch the point.
  • Leck clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Gradenhag at No. 3 singles.
NOTES
  • SNHU has now won five of its last seven, including three-in-a-row.
  • Armannsdottir cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Annabelle Aldrete at No. 5 singles.
  • Junior Dajana Abadzic (Weinstadt, Germany) pulled out a 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 10-8 win at No. 2 singles against Larsen.
  • Abadzic and sophomore Lois Tsui (Amsterdam, Netherlands) edged Lucy McPherson and Jedidah Xu, 6-4, at the top doubles flight.
  • The Penmen lead the all-time series with Saint Michael's, 23-8, and have now won 22 of the last 23 meetings, including 15 straight. SNHU has also won 13-in-a-row at home against the Purple Knights. The last SMC win in the series came April 13, 2014 in a 5-4 home victory.
