Matt Roy (North Andover, Mass.) turned in a standout performance with 25 saves, but the Southern New Hampshire University men's lacrosse team fell to third-ranked Saint Anselm College, 13-6, in Northeast 10 action Wednesday night at Ouellette Stadium.
KEY MOMENTS
- Southern New Hampshire opened the scoring, as senior Aiden Blouin (Barre, Vt.) finished a feed from junior Sean Dwyer (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) just over three minutes into the contest.
- After Saint Anselm responded with a pair, sophomore Lasse Volquardsen (Frankfurt, Germany) tied the game at 2-2 midway through the first quarter.
- The Hawks, however, seized control in the second quarter, scoring three unanswered goals to take a 5-2 lead into halftime.
- Saint Anselm extended the advantage in the third, netting four more goals to build a 9-2 cushion heading into the final frame.
- Despite the deficit, the Penmen continued to battle, as Volquardsen, Blouin, sophomore PJ Cunningham (Bronx, N.Y.) and Dwyer all scored in the fourth quarter to account for the final margin.
