Southern New Hampshire University softball swept a Northeast 10 doubleheader at Saint Anselm College on Thursday afternoon, earning 7-0 and 7-2 victories. Senior Abby Lineman (Doylestown, Pa.) led the way for the Penmen, homering twice on the day as SNHU split the four-game season series after the Hawks took both games Tuesday in Hooksett.
GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Penmen broke through early and never looked back in a 7-0 victory in the opener.
- SNHU scored three runs in the second inning, taking advantage of Saint Anselm miscues and timely hitting. Senior Sidney Rose (Davidson, N.C.) delivered an RBI single, and sophomore Taylor Reid (Holbrook, Mass.) added a run-scoring groundout as the Penmen built a 3-0 lead.
- The Penmen extended the advantage in the fifth inning when sophomore Alyssa Abbott (Hudson, N.H.) singled home a run before Lineman launched a three-run homer to make it 7-0.
- Junior Julianna Colbert (Burrillville, R.I.) was dominant in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing five hits and striking out 12.
- Lineman finished with two hits and three RBIs, while Abbott and Rose each added RBIs in the win.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- SNHU jumped out quickly and completed the sweep with a 7-2 victory in Game 2.
- The Penmen scored two runs in the first inning on an RBI single by Abbott and a sacrifice fly from Lineman.
- SNHU added three more runs in the second inning, highlighted by RBI singles from senior Peyton Feldman (Foxboro, Mass.), Abbott, and junior Kaysie DeMoura (Taunton, Mass.) to take a 5-0 lead.
- The Hawks scored twice in the fifth inning to cut into the deficit, but Lineman added a solo home run in the seventh inning to provide the final margin.
- Freshman Sophie Roussel (Goffstown, N.H.) earned the win in the circle, allowing two runs over four innings before sophomore Kayla O'Boyle (Commack, N.Y.) closed out the game.
- Abbott led the offense with three hits and two RBIs, while Bryson, Feldman, and Livi Sousa (Hudson, Mass.) each recorded hits.
