Men's Tennis Falls at Adelphi, 4-1, in Regular-Season Finale

Penmen earn No. 3 seed for NE10 Championship, which begins Thursday

The Southern New Hampshire University men's tennis team captured the doubles point, but fell to Adelphi University, 4-1, Saturday evening at the Point Set Tennis Club in the regular-season finale.

KEY MOMENTS
  • Sophomore Vicente Preto (Sesimbra, Portugal) and junior Albert Modol (Lleida, Spain) edged Andrea Albiero and Viktor Hockl, 6-4, at the top doubles flight.
  • Junior Carlos Molero (Barcelona, Spain) and freshman Aurel Creveuil (Nanterre, France) recorded a 7-5 victory at No. 2 doubles against Louca Bertone and Thomas Horsley.
NOTES
  • With the match being moved indoors, it was only played until it was clinched.
  • Southern New Hampshire had won seven of its last 10, including four of five.
  • The Penmen will be the No. 3 seed for the upcoming NE10 Championship and will take on second-seed Assumption University on Thursday, April 30 in the semifinal round. SNHU will host the NE10 Championship at the Ouellette Stadium Tennis Courts on April 30-May 1.
  • Molero had his five-match winning streak halted with a loss at No. 3 and sinks to 12-5 on the season.
  • Sophomore Marcos Castaneda (Madrid, Spain) had won four-in-a-row before his loss at No. 5 that dropped him to 13-4.
  • Adelphi evens the all-time series with SNHU, 11-11, as it has now won eight of the last nine, including seven straight. The last win in the series for the Penmen came April 20, 2023 in a 4-1 NE10 Championship semifinal road victory. SNHU has also dropped four of the last five road meetings.
