NO. ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire University had 20 of its student-athletes recognized with NE10 Academic All-Conference honors for the 2026 Spring season Thursday.
Junior Joel Valera (Boston, Mass.) and senior Parker Lendrum (Exeter, N.H.) were two of the 22 to earn the honor from baseball. Valera, who was also an American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) East All-Region Second Team, Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) East All-Region First Team, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East All-Region Second Team, NE10 First Team, NE10 All-Defensive Team and College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team recipient this season, wrapped up the year at .298 (51-171) with 10 homers, 45 RBI and 34 runs scored, while producing a slash line of .362/.550/.912. The sport management major with a 3.52 GPA made seven errors in 121 chances at the hot corner for a .942 fielding mark. The April 20 NE10 Player of the Week was 10th in the league in home runs.
Lendrum, a mechanical engineering major with a 3.95 GPA, also received NE10 All-Conference Third Team, NE10 All-Defensive Team and CSC Academic All-District Team accolades this season. He made 16 appearances, including 12 starts, going 6-1 with a 5.07 ERA, striking out 51 and walking only 19 in 65-and-two-thirds innings. The March 2 NE10 Pitcher of the Week ranked fifth in the NE10 in fewest walks allowed, seventh in wins and eighth in innings pitched.
Juniors Julianna Colbert (Burrillville, R.I.) and Kaysie DeMoura (Taunton, Mass.), sophomore Alyssa Abbott (Hudson, N.H.) and junior Mikaya Alto (Chelmsford, Mass.) landed four of the 31 spots from softball. Colbert completed her season with a 20-8 record and a 2.05 ERA, while her 241 strikeouts tied the program's single-season record. Colbert was named East All-Region First Team by both the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and D2CCA, in addition to earning D2CCA East Region Pitcher of the Year, NE10 Pitcher of the Year, NE10 All-Conference First Team and CSC Academic All-District Team honors. The education major with a 3.82 grade-point average, led the league in wins and strikeouts, while ranking second in ERA and opponent batting average (.209), and third in innings pitched (198.1).
DeMoura, a education major with a 3.84 GPA, was honored as the East All-Region Second Team third baseman by both the NFCA and D2CCA, while also collecting an NE10 All-Conference First Team and CSC Academic All-District accolade. DeMoura hit .399 this season – the highest batting average for the Penmen in seven seasons – while collecting a team-high 71 hits, including 14 doubles, two triples, and one home run. She drove in 32 runs, second-most on the team, and posted a team-best .472 on-base percentage. DeMoura led the NE10 in hit by pitches (12), while ranking second in hits and OBP, fifth in batting, seventh in OPS (.989) and doubles (14) and 10th in slugging percentage (.517).
Abbott also earned D2CCA East All-Region Second Team outfield recognition, NE10 Second Team honors and a CSC Academic All-District nod. Abbott, who is a psychology major with a 3.87 GPA, hit .331 with six doubles, one home run, and 26 RBIs. She was eighth in the league in HBP (5) and 10th in hits (59).
Alto, who was also an NE10 Second Teamer and CSC Academic All-District Team selection, batted .335 with nine extra-base hits, 29 RBI and a .451 OBP. She ranked second in the NE10 in walks (31) and seventh in OBP. Alto is a marketing major with a 3.86 GPA.
Sophomore Andrew Surprenant (Boscawen, N.H.) was one of three men's golfers to collect the accolade. Surprenant, who was named to the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) PING East All-Region Team and NE10 All-Conference First Team, took part in 10 tournaments this season, finishing in the top 20 all but once, while producing a trio of top-five performances, including a win that came at the Northeast 10 Championship. Surprenant averaged a 72.8 over his 24 rounds, shooting sub-70 on four occasions, including twice in his NE10 title win. Surprenant is a business administration major with a 3.65 GPA.
Junior Dajana Abadzic (Weinstadt, Germany) and sophomore Lois Tsui (Amsterdam, Netherlands) were two of 12 from women's tennis. Abadzic and Tsui finished 18-6 on the season, including 16-5 at the top flight, and went 9-3 in NE10 play. The duo, ranked as high as 46th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II Rankings, won nine-in-a-row from March 2-April 18. They were chosen for the NE10 All-Conference Second Team at No. 1 doubles
Abadzic, a marketing major with a 3.62 grade-point average, finished 12-12 in singles play, competing primarily at the top flight, including 6-6 in the NE10. She earned CSC Academic All-District honors last month.
Tsui earned collected an individual honor with an NE10 All-Conference Third Team pick at No. 2 singles and also joined Abadzic on the CSC Academic All-District Team. She went 15-7 on the year, including 12-4 at No. 2 singles and 7-4 in NE10 play. Tsui is a psychology major with a 3.89 GPA.
Junior Carlos Molero (Barcelona, Spain), and sophomores Vicente Preto (Sesimbra, Portugal), Sebastian Eckert (Wernigerode, Germany) and Marcos Castaneda (Madrid, Spain) were four of 12 men's tennis student-athletes. Molero was an NE10 First Team pick at No. 3 singles and CSC Academic All-District Team choice. The business administration major with a 3.93 GPA went 12-7 this season, including 11-6 at No. 3 and 7-2 in league play. He was also 14-8 in doubles and 6-4 in the conference.
Preto adds to his list of accolades, which includes NE10 All-Conference Second Team at No. 1 singles, NE10 First Team at No. 1 doubles and CSC Academic All-District Team. Preto went 12-8 this season, including 10-7 at the top flight and an impressive 7-1 in the NE10. He was 11-11 in doubles play, including 6-3 in the league. Preto is a business administration major with a 3.90 grade-point average.
Castaneda, an economics and finance major with a 3.91 GPA, was an NE10 Second Teamer at No. 5 singles and CSC Academic All-District Team pick. He was 14-4 on the year, including 9-3 at No. 5 and 7-1 in league play. Castaneda was 4-10 in doubles, but 4-4 in the NE10.
Eckert, an economics and finance major with a perfect 4.0 GPA, was an NE10 All-Conference First Teamer at No. 2 doubles. Eckert was 3-4 in singles play, including 1-1 in the league, but went 6-4 in doubles, including 4-2 in NE10 action.
Of the 32 women's track & field athletes to receive the honors, senior Hope Sinclair (Hampton, N.H.), graduate student Corrina Obernesser (Westminster, Colo.), sophomore Hannah Sippel (Chester, N.H.) and junior Kay Wheelock (Milford, Mass.) were the four from SNHU. Sinclair, who was also named NE10 Academic All-Conference during the indoor season, captured an NE10 outdoor title in the 200 meters with a personal-best time of 24.64, which ranked third in the East Region. Sinclair, who was also fourth in the 100 (12.36) at NE10s, collected United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) East All-Region recognition in both the 100 and 200 meters. Other outdoor highlights included a PR in the 100 (11.89) when she won the SNHU Spring Invitational with a time that wound up ranking second in the entire region and a personal best in the 400 (1:01.24) at the George Davis Invitational. Sinclair was a justice studies major with a 3.69 GPA.
Obernesser, who compiled a 3.67 GPA while pursuing her Master's degree in criminal justice, was also an NE10 Academic All-Conference honoree during the cross country season. Obernesser captured an NE10 outdoor crown in the 3,000-meter steeplechase – the same event she was also named USTFCCCA East All-Region in. Her 11:03.90 at the NE10 Championships was the third best time in the East Region and a personal best. She also set a PR in the 800 (2:22.99) at the University of New Hampshire Wildcat Invitational.
Sippel, an NE10 Academic All-Conference selection during the indoor season, was a USTFCCCA East All-Region performer in the 400 meters with a 57.63 at the NE10 Championships that had her third after preliminaries and was the fifth best mark in the East Region. She was also second at NE10s in the 4x400 (4:01.44) and fifth in the 4x100 (48.43). Sippel is a biology major with a 3.83 GPA.
Wheelock, a construction management major with a 3.94 GPA, was part of the 4x400 squad that was second at the NE10 Championships. She was also sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.27). Wheelock set a PR a week later with a 1:03.58 at the NEICAAA Championships. She also established a personal best in the 100 (13.17) at the Wildcat Invite.
Redshirt-freshman Piper Knowlton (Chester, N.H.), sophomore Corrina Moulton (Barre, Vt.) and senior Delaney Ramalho (Hollis, N.H.) were three of a league-high 35 from women's lacrosse. Knowlton, who was the fifth NE10 Rookie of the Year in program history, and also claimed a spot on the NE10 All-Conference Second Team and NE10 All-Rookie Team, notched 60 points on 41 goals and 19 assists, as she played in all 16 games and made 15 starts. She also scooped up 15 ground balls, won eight draw controls and caused six turnovers. The three-time NE10 Rookie of the Week (March 2, March 9, March 16) ranked eighth in the NE10 in goals, points, goals per game (2.56) and points per game (3.75), as well as 14th in assists and assists per game (1.19). Knowlton is a sport management major with a 3.96 GPA.
Moulton, who was also an NE10 Second Teamer, is a criminal justice major with a 3.54 GPA. The two-time NE10 Goalkeeper of the Week (March 9, March 16) started 13 of the 15 games she played in, stopping 152 of the 327 shots she faced over 756:37 for a .465 save percentage and 13.88 goals-against average (GAA). Moulton placed second in the conference in save percentage and saves per game (10.13), as well as third in total saves, seventh in minutes and ninth in ground balls per game (2.20). Her 152 saves place her fifth in SNHU's single-season record book.
Ramalho, a business administration major with a 3.98 GPA, landed a spot on the NE10 Third Team. The defender, who was one of three Penmen to start all 16 contests, collected 30 ground balls and caused 21 turnovers. She tied for 10th in the league in caused turnovers per game (1.31) and for 16th in ground balls per game (1.88).
To be eligible for selection to NE10 Academic All-Conference teams, a student-athlete must have met or exceeded the following minimum requirements:
- Named to sport All-Conference team (First, Second, Third or Defensive).
- Must have spent at least two consecutive full-time semesters at the institution (not including the last semester completed)
- Must have minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 (for both undergrad and grad)
