Freshmen Valentina Bugnatto (Wilmington, N.C.) and Lonnie Briggs (Omaha, Neb.) combined for 15 kills, but the Southern New Hampshire University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Assumption University on Saturday afternoon at the Stan Spirou Field House.
KEY MOMENTS
- Assumption led, 24-22, in the third set and were on the verge of winning the match, but back-to-back kills by Bugnatto and one from Briggs put Southern New Hampshire in front, 25-24. The Greyhounds, however, captured four of the next five points to take the match.
NOTES
- Southern New Hampshire has lost six straight.
- SNHU still leads the all-time series with Assumption, 24-21, but has now lost five of the last six meetings. The Greyhounds have also won two of the last three in Manchester, though the Penmen defeated Assumption, 3-1, at the Field House back on Aug. 30.
- Bugnatto tallied eight kills, five aces, three digs and two blocks.
- Briggs recorded seven kills on .294 hitting.
- Freshman Emma Martinez (Plano, Texas) posted 24 assists and six digs.
- Fifth year Meri Ibrahimi (Woburn, Mass.) collected 13 digs.
