MANCHESTER, N.H. - Three players finished
with 15 points apiece as Stonehill College recorded an 87-50
Northeast-10 women's basketball victory over Southern New Hampshire
University at the SNHU Fieldhouse Tuesday night. The Skyhawks
improved to 3-0 and 1-0 in NE-10 play, while the Penmen are now 0-2
overall and 0-1 in the league.
Megan Methven
(Corning, NY) drained four three-pointers and finished with 15
points for the Skyhawks. Freshman Kristen
McWhirter (Melvin Village, NH) connected on three threes
and also had 15 points, while Bethany Tighe (North
Easton, MA) had 15 points and nine rebounds. Kelsey
Simonds (Middleboro, MA) had 13 points and 11 boards while
Erin Gray (Clifton Park, NY) finished with 11
points. Erica Stupinski (Topsham, ME) handed
out 11 assists.
Sara Tucker (Red
Hook, NY) led Southern New Hampshire with 17 points and nine
rebounds while Brooke Lefort (Cumberland, RI) had
seven points. Alyssa Whitney (Somerville,
MA) and Ashara Carrington (Marblehead, MA) each
finished with six points for the Penmen.
Stonehill, which trailed just once
in the game, reeled off 21 unanswered points to take a 30-6 lead
just past the midway point of the first half on a Tighe
basket. The Skyhawks took a 43-14 lead into the locker room
and took their largest lead, 68-26, on a Methven three at the 10:55
mark of the second half.
The guests shot 66.7% (14-21) over
the final 20 minutes and 60% (33-55) for the contest and also
held a 38-26 rebounding advantage.
Southern New Hampshire hits the
road Sunday when it travels to Le Moyne College for a 1:00
Northeast-10 tilt.
