Men's Basketball Falls to
Saint Rose

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Steve Dagostino
(Schenectady, NY) drained 4-6 of his three-point attempts and
finished with 24 points to lead The College of Saint Rose to a
71-61 Northeast-10 men's basketball victory over Southern New
Hampshire University at the SNHU Fieldhouse Wednesday night.
The Golden Knights improved to 3-2 and 2-1 in the NE-10, while the
Penmen are 2-2 and 1-2 in the league.
Dagostino, the reigning
Northeast-10 Player of the Year, was 6-8 overall from the field and
8-9 at the free throw line. Jermaine Clark
(Perth Amboy, NJ) was 6-10 and totaled 16 points, while
Will Monica (Great Falls, VA) had 14 points, six
rebounds and four assists for the Golden Knights.
Gerald Carter
(Harlem, NY) led SNHU with 12 points, seven rebounds and four
assists. Troy Bowen (Nashua, NH) finished
with 11 points, while Sam Carey (Manchester, NH)
registered 10 points and nine rebounds.
SNHU jumped out to a 15-3 lead just
over five minutes into the game following a basket by Bowen, but
the Golden Knights would run off 11 straight points to close within
15-14 at the 9:55 mark following a Monica three-pointer.
Saint Rose took the lead on a Dagostino three at the 4:54 mark that
made it 20-19, and the guests would close out the first half on a
14-5 run to take a 34-25 halftime lead.
Saint Rose would extend its lead by
starting the second half on a 7-2 run to take a 41-27 lead with
17:40 to play on a Dagostino trifecta. Saint Rose would
maintain a double-digit lead the rest of the way and took its
largest lead midway through the stanza on a Clark three that made
it 58-38.
The Golden Knights show 50% overall
from the field and connected on 10 of their 19 (52.6%) three-point
attempts. The Penmen held a 33-32 rebounding edge.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action Saturday when it travels to Pace University for a 3:30
contest.
