BOX SCORE

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Kim Brennan (Locust Valley, NY) finished with 15 points to lead Bentley College to a 64-55 win over Southern New Hampshire University in Northeast-10 women's basketball Wednesday night at the SNHU Fieldhouse.  The Falcons improved to 6-4 overall and 5-3 in the league, while the Penmen are now 3-6 and 3-5 in NE-10 play.

Brennan led four Falcons in double figures.  Erica Kirwan (North Kingstown, RI) finished with 10 points and nine rebounds, while Vanessa Lux (Arundel, ME) and Kelly Barrett (Middle Village, NY) each registered 10 points and eight boards.  Julia Houghtaling (Franconia, NH) led the Penmen with 14 points, while Stephanie Houghton (Manchester, NH) added 13 points.

SNHU led 10-6 with just under 12 minutes to play in the first half when the Falcons went on a 15-3 run to take a 21-13 lead with 5:48 to go on a basket by Brennan.  The Penmen responded with 11 unanswered points, including three consecutive three-pointers, to take a 24-21 lead with 2:01 to go before halftime on a Kristen Anderson (Hooksett, NH) trifecta.  Houghton connected on back-to-back threes that tied the score at 21 with 3:22 left.  The hosts carried a 26-25 lead into the locker room.

The two teams traded the lead twice at the start of the second half before Bentley used a 9-0 run capped by a Kristy McLean (Staten Island, NY) free throw at the 13:26 mark to take a 38-31 lead.  The Penmen chipped away at the lead and made it a 42-41 ballgame with 9:01 left on a layup by Houghtaling, but the Falcons outscored SNHU 11-2 over the next three minutes and a basket by Barrett made it 53-42.  The hosts whittled the lead down to four, 57-53, with 1:30 left on an Alyssa Whitney (Somerville, MA) field goal, but Bentley sealed the win by going 7-10 at the charity stripe in the final moments.

Bentley limited the Penmen to 31.1% shooting for the contest while shooting 48% in the second half after going just 8-24 (33.3%) in the first half.  The Falcons also outrebounded Southern New Hampshire 44-35 and generated nearly twice as many free throw attempts (34-18).

SNHU is idle until December 28 when it faces Slippery Rock University in the first round of the San Diego Surf N Slam.  Game time is 12:00 (PST).
