BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. - Freshman Ariel
Teixeira (Warren, RI) scored 3:46 into the first overtime
session to lift Southern New Hampshire University to a 2-1 victory
over Pace University in Northeast-10 women's soccer Saturday
afternoon. With the win, the Penmen clinch a berth in the
Northeast-10 Tournament for the first time since 2005 as they
improve to 8-4-3 and 7-4-2 in the NE-10, while Pace falls to 2-12-2
overall and 2-11 in the league.
Teixeira scored the game-winner at
the game's 93:46 mark to pick up the win for the Penmen. For
Teixeira, it marks her second game-winning goal in overtime on the
season, as she also had the winner in double overtime against
then-No. 6 C.W. Post on September 20.
Sophia Saint Paul
(Brockton, MA) gave Southern New Hampshire a 1-0 lead in the game's
19th minute when she scored off a pass from
Nicole Ebner (Rochester, NY). The Penmen
would hold the lead into halftime and until the 62:27 mark, when
Pace's Allyson Dyl scored an unassisted goal to knot the game 1-1.
Stef Young
(Natick, MA) turned aside 10 shots for Southern New Hampshire to
pick up the victory. Pace's Monique Morey had five saves for
the Setters. The Penmen held a 22-18 shot advantage in the
contest.
SNHU closes out regular season
NE-10 play Tuesday night when it hosts UMass Lowell in a 7:00
contest at Larkin Field.
