BOX SCORE
ALBANY, N.Y. - Steve Dagostino totaled 22 points to lead
The College of Saint Rose to Tuesday night's 73-55 Northeast-10
men's basketball victory over Southern New Hampshire University at
Nolan Gymnasium Tuesday night. The Golden Knights improved to
17-5 overall and 14-3 in the NE-10, while the Penmen are now 11-11
overall and 8-9 in league play.
Jermaine Clark added 11 points for
Saint Rose, while Evan Lane had 10 points and 14 rebounds.
Freshmen Cory Vejraska (Alachua, FL) and
Chase Miller (Fairfax, VA) led Southern New
Hampshire with 11 points apiece.
SNHU built a 7-1 lead just 2:12
into the ballgame following a basket by Vejraska, but a Dagostino
three capped a 7-0 Saint Rose run that made it 8-7 at the 15:57
mark. The two teams would trade the lead four times before a
tip-in by Lane at the 11:05 mark put the hosts in front for good at
16-15. That basket started a 11-0 run that put the Golden
Knights up 25-15 with 7:21 left before intermission. Saint
Rose held a 37-24 lead at halftime.
The Penmen hung with the Golden
Knights early in the second half and a basket by Miller with 15:29
to go cut the Saint Rose lead to 12, 44-32. However, that
would be as close as SNHU would get, as Saint Rose gradually pulled
away, taking its largest lead, 71-46, with just over four minutes
remaining on a Rob Gutierrez basket.
Saint Rose limited the guests to
just 33.3% shooting for the contest and to just 5-25 (20%) shooting
from three-point territory. The Penmen did outrebound the
Golden Knights 49-45 but were hurt by 17 turnovers that led to 23
Saint Rose points.
SNHU returns to action Saturday
when it hosts Pace University in a 3:30 contest at the SNHU
Fieldhouse.
