Alex Brown Shatters Own School Record at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Senior Alex Brown (Hudson, NH) of the Southern New Hampshire University men's cross country team bested his own eight-kilometer school record by 50 seconds to place 74th out of 278 runners at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational Saturday morning.  As a team the Penmen finished 31st out of 38 schools.

Brown traversed the 8K course in 26:41, bettering his previous school record of 27:31 established last season at the Northeast-10 Championship.  He now owns the top three times in program history along with four of the top eight times.

Junior Sam Tarrant (Cleverdale, NY) was the next-highest finished for SNHU, running a career-best 29:15 to place 185th.  Freshman Kevin Coyle (Salem, NH) posted a time of 30:37, while Michael Smith (Lynnfield, MA) finished with a time of 30:47.

Senior Matt Caredeo (Salem, NH) and freshman Jason Bays (Cresco, PA) tied with 31:00 efforts, while Matt Gray (Haverhill, MA) finished with a time of 33:13.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Saturday, September 27 when it competes at the Bryant Invitational.
