Labonte Leads Penmen to Sixth at NE10 Championship

Senior posts third-place finish on Sunday

The Southern New Hampshire University men's cross country team battled Sunday morning, placing sixth overall at the 2025 Northeast 10 Conference Championship, hosted by Saint Anselm College.

KEY MOMENT
  • The Penmen tallied 149 points, finishing just ahead of Bentley (151) and St. Anselm (175), while Southern Connecticut captured the NE10 title with 23 points.  Senior Dillon Labonte (Lee, N.H.) finished in third place to earn First-Team All-Conference, matching his third-place finish earned last year.  Labonte also earned the Elite 24 award with the top grade point average at the meet.
NOTES
  • Labonte led the way once again, clocking 26:20.6 to finish 3rd overall, earning All-Conference honors in his final NE10 meet.
  • Junior Eric Sekyaya (Burlington, Mass.) continued his consistent season, running 27:38.9 for 20th place and earning Third-Team All-Conference for the third consecutive season.
  • Senior Carter Sylvester (Northwood, N.H.) followed closely in 27:42.6 (22nd), giving SNHU three runners inside the top 25.
  • Freshman Roman Macedo (Pennsburg, Pa.) placed 59th (29:06.6), showing continued promise in his debut campaign.
  • Freshman Jackson Bock (Danbury, Conn.) completed the scoring in 78th (30:17.9).
  • Junior Alex Labrecque (Hooksett, N.H.) also competed, finishing 85th (31:16.5).
  • Junior Brett Trainor (North Chelmsford, Mass.) ran 92nd (35:21.1).
  • Labonte matches the best individual result for an SNHU runner since Tyler McLaren finished second in 2017.
  • Jonathan Volpe and Colton Sallum finished 1-2 in the men's race for the champion Owls.
  • SNHU and Saint Anselm each earned two Queen City Cup points, with the men finishing ahead of the Hawks.  SNHU leads the season-long points race 7-4.
