MANCHESTER, N.H. - Sophia Saint Paul (Brockton, MA)
recorded a career-high three goals to lead Southern New Hampshire
University to a 4-1 Northeast-10 women's soccer victory over
Stonehill College on Tuesday night. The Penmen, who are
ranked fourth in the adidas/NSCAA East Region poll and are
receiving votes in the Division II national poll, won their third
in a row to improve to 4-1-1 overall and 3-1 in the NE-10, while
the SKyhawks are now 3-4-1 and 2-3-1 in the league.
Saint Paul got the Penmen on the
board just 8:48 into the match when she scored off an assist from
Alyssa Thayer (Hooksett, NH). Southern New
Hampshire would hold the 1-0 lead until halftime before Saint Paul
made it 2-0 5:06 into the second half on an unassisted tally.
Stonehill got on the board at the
64:14 mark when Alexandra Murphy scored an unassisted goal.
Just 2:56 later, the Penmen would regain a two-goal advantage when
Nicole Ebner (Rochester, NY) scored off a feed
from Kristina Cardoso (Stoughton, MA). Saint
Paul closed out the scoring with her third goal at the 82:28 mark
when she collected a rebound of a shot from Ebner and one-timed it
from 12 yards.
Stef Young
(Natick, MA) turned aside four shots for the Penmen, who outshot
the Skyhawks 19-9. Marissa Bramwell made seven saves for
Stonehill.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action Saturday when it travels to American International for a
1:00 match.
