MANCHESTER, N.H. -
The Southern New Hampshire University men's cross country team
opened its season with a sixth-place finish at the season-opening
Shacklette Invitational hosted by Saint Anselm College Saturday
morning.
Senior Sam Tarrant
(Cleverdale, N.Y.) was the top Penmen finisher, coming in
38th overall with a time of 30:51 for the
eight-kilometer course. Teammate Jason Bays
(Cresco, Pa.) finished one spot behind Tarrant with a 31:01 effort,
while Michael Smith (Lynnfield, Mass.) finished
the course in 32:33 to place 43rd.
Sophomore Kevin
Coyle (Salem, N.H.) finished 44th overall with
a time of 33:07. Sophomore Matt Gray
(Haverhill, Mass.) was 49th with a 36:40 effort, while
junior Brian White (Windham, N.H.) was one spot
behind with a time of 37:46.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action next Saturday when it competes in the UMass Dartmouth
Invitational.
