MANCHESTER, N.H. - Sophomore Brittany
Roberts (Lebanon, N.H.) totaled two goals and freshman
Kaleigh Roberge (Manchester, N.H.) finished with a
goal and two assists to lead Southern New Hampshire University to a
5-0 Northeast-10 women's soccer victory over Pace University at
Larkin Field Saturday afternoon. The Penmen improved to 2-1-1
overall and 1-0-1 in NE-10 play, while the Setters are now 1-1-1
and 0-1 in the league.
The Penmen would get on the board
just 1:15 into the game when Emily Donahue
(Bristol, R.I.) scored on a feed from Alyssa
Integlia (Johnston, R.I.). Southern New Hampshire
made it 2-0 in the 21st minute when Integlia scored on a
corner kick delivered into the box by Roberge.
Roberts would score twice in a span
of 3:03 early in the second half. She scored her first
collegiate goal at the 47:59 mark after playing a touch pass from
Donahue. Roberge also assisted on the goal. She would
score again just past the 51-minute mark when she converted a pass
from Danielle Courtemanche (Glastonbury,
Conn.). Roberge would close out the scoring with nine seconds
remaining when she recorded an unassisted tally.
SNHU keepers Stef
Young (Natick, Mass.) and Casey Les
(Palmer, Mass.) combined on the shutout without being forced to
make a save. Monique Morey made two saves in goal for Pace in
the first half, before giving way to Courtany Hagan, who stopped
seven shots over the final 45 minutes. The Penmen outshot the
Setters 28-2 and did not allow Pace to take a corner kick on the
afternoon.
Southern New Hampshire returns to
action Tuesday afternoon when it travels to ninth-ranked Franklin
Pierce for a 4:00 game.
