MANCHESTER, N.H.—Ariel
Teixeira (Warren, R.I.) tallied a goal and an assist
to lead the Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team
to their third-straight shutout and fourth win in as many games, a
2-0 win against cross-town rival Saint Anselm College. With
the win, the Penmen improve to 8-6-1 overall and 7-5-1 in the
Northeast-10 Conference, while the Hawks fall to 5-8-1 overall and
5-7-1 in NE-10 play.
The game would remain scoreless until the 80th
minute, when Teixeira fed a pass from the left side of the field to
Kaleigh
Roberge (Manchester, N.H.) who sidestepped Saint
Anselm goalkeeper Jacqueline Cooney and converted the open net
shot.
Teixeira would add an insurance goal in the 89th
minute on a penalty kick to finalize the 2-0 win for the
Penmen.
Maggie
Weldon (Manchester, N.H.) earned the shutout in net
for the Penmen and was not forced to make a save. Cooney
posted nine saves in net for the Hawks as the Penmen posted a shot
advantage of 21-2 and did not allow the Hawks a shot on goal.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Friday, traveling to
Assumption for a 7:00 p.m. Northeast-10 Conference
matchup.
