WALTHAM, Mass. – Freshman Mike Giberti (Derry, N.H.) led all Penmen runners with a time of 29:02 as the Southern New Hampshire University men's cross country team competed at the Pop Crowell Cross Country Invitational Saturday afternoon. As a team, the Penmen placed 16th out of a 23 team field.
Jason Bays (Cresco, Pa.) was the next-highest finisher for SNHU, posting a 30:18 to place 123rd overall. Kevin Coyle (Salem, N.H.) finished 15 seconds behind Bays with a time of 30:33 while Tyler Parks (Moultonborough, N.H.) finished eight seconds behind Coyle with a time of 30:41, placing him 131st.
Also finishing for the Penmen were Sam Tarrant (Cleverdale, N.Y.) with a time of 31:29, Mike Smith (Lynnfield, Mass.) with a time of 31:33, Doug Coulters (Weare, N.H) with a time of 32:13, and Jason Grotton (China, Maine) with a time of 32:32.
Rounding out the field of 250 runners was Matt Gray (Haverhill, Mass.) with a time of 34:41, Robert Gray (Haverhill, Mass.) with a time of 35:38, and Brian White (Windham, N.H.) with a time of 36:05.
The Penmen return to action on October 9 as they travel to Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. to race in the New England Championships.
