UMass Boston Captures Third Straight PAL/Stovepipe Tournament Title.

HOOKSETT, N.H. – UMass Boston got goals from eight different players as it cruised to an 8-1 win over Southern New Hampshire University in the finals of the Manchester Police Athletic League (PAL)/Stovepipe college hockey tournament Sunday.  The Beacons, who captured their third PAL/Stovepipe Tournament title in a row, are now 4-1, while the Penmen are 2-5 on the season.

Anthony Fitti (Havertown, Pa.), Chris Wilcox (Hollywood, Fla.), Vinnie Jacona (East Stroudsburg, Pa.) and Andrew Burke (Southampton, Pa.) all finished with a goal and an assist apiece for UMass Boston.  Rob Florentino (West Roxbury, Mass.), Eric Tufman (Abington, Pa.), David Lun (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Jimmy Ennis (Roslindale, Mass.) also had goals for the Beacons, while Travis Daniel (North Brunswick, N.J.) handed out three assists.  Chris Wyman (Bartlett, Ill.) added a pair of assists for UMB.

Southern New Hampshire kept the Beacons off the scoreboard until the 13:42 mark of the first period when Florentino scored on a power play.  Wilcox made it 2-0 with 2:03 to go in the first period and UMass Boston took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.  The guests tacked on three goals in the second period and scored three times in a span of 3:16 midway through the third.

SNHU would notch its only goal with 32 seconds to play when Tyler Pascucci (North Reading, Mass.) scored on a power play on an assist from Bill Toomey (Reading, Mass.).

UMB's Kevin Bendel (Denville, N.J.) stopped 11 of the 12 shots he faced.  SNHU goaltender Tyler Holske (Attleboro, Mass.) made 63 saves as the Beacons outshot the Penmen 71-12. 

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Wednesday when it travels to Franklin Pierce for a 7:30 Northeast-10 contest.  UMass Boston returns to ECAC East action Friday when it hosts Trinity in a 7:00 contest.
