PLYMOUTH, N.H.—The Southern New Hampshire University ice hockey team dropped a 6-0 non-conference decision to Plymouth State in front of a sellout crowd at the new Hanaway Rink. The game marked the season opener for both schools.
Brian Kriner scored the first Plymouth goal 1:45 into the first period. Chris Zaremba would add another goal in the first stanza to give the Panthers the 2-0 advantage at the first intermission.
Kyle Greco, Sean Buckley, and JC Richardson would tally goals for Plymouth State in the second period as the Penmen trailed 5-0 heading into the third period. Jake Curtin added the final Plymouth State goal with 5:28 remaining in the game on assists from Kriner and Andrew Stewart.
John Carbonneau (Medford, Mass.) took the loss in net for the Penmen, recording 31 saves in just over 51 minutes of action. He gave way to freshman Tyler Holske (Attleboro, Mass.), who recorded four saves in 8:25 of minutes on the ice. Jack Astedt earned the win in net for Plymouth and stopped 18 shots as the Panthers outshot the Penmen 41-18 on the evening.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Thursday, November 11, traveling to Johnson and Wales University for a 4:30 p.m. non-conference matchup.
