PORTSMOUTH, R.I.—Craig Carbonneau (Medford, Mass.) tallied a goal and an assist as the Southern New Hampshire University ice hockey team posted their second overtime tie in a row, tying the Seahawks of Salve Regina University on Sunday afternoon. With the tie, the Penmen set their record to 2-6-2 overall, while the Seahawks improve their record to 1-7-1 overall.
Salve Regina would tally the first goal 5:14 into the game as Chad Hollenshade scored on an assist by Curtis McKeon. The Penmen would even the score at one apiece 4:09 later when Brian Troy (Ashburnham, Mass.) connected on an assist by Carbonneau. The Seahawks would round the first period with a goal by David Watkins with 7:16 remaining in the period. Lee Trot assisted on the goal.
Southern New Hampshire would even the game again at 2-2 with 5:35 remaining in the second period on a goal by Carbonneau. Frank O'Connor (Arlington, Mass.) and Chris Hickey (Gilford, N.H.) assisted on the goal.
The two teams would remain scoreless through the third period and the overtime period, solidifying the 2-2 final.
Tyler Holske (Attleboro, Mass.) played all 65 minutes between the pipes for the Penmen and recorded 50 saves. Earnest Foss went the distance in goal for the Seahawks and recorded 20 saves as Salve Regina outshot the Penmen 52-22 on the afternoon.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Thursday, hosting Johnson and Wales on 7:30 p.m. in non-conference play.
