MANCHESTER, N.H.—Four different members of the Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team tallied goals in the first half to lead the Penmen to a 4-0 Northeast-10 Conference win against Saint Michael's College on Wednesday evening. With the win, the Penmen improve to 7-5-1 overall and 5-4-1 in NE-10 action, while the loss drops the visiting Purple Knights to 5-7-1 and 4-6-1 in league play.
Kasey Morrison (Hampton, N.H.) would notch the first Penmen goal of the game at the 9:27 mark as teammate Ashley Jaskula (Palmer, Mass.) dribbled to the left side of the six-yard box and then made the short pass to Morrison who was positioned in the middle of the box. Jaskula would then tally a goal of her own less than three minutes later as she collected a pass from Emily Donahue (Bristol, R.I.) and fired the shot from 30 yards deep.
With just under 20 minutes remaining in the first half, Emily Mongeau (Westborough, Mass.) would pass the ball from midfield to just outside the 18-yard box, where Ariel Teixeira (Warren, R.I.) collected the ball and fired it high into the net to give the Penmen the 3-0 advantage.
Four minutes later at the 29:43 mark, Teixeira would make the long pass to Kaleigh Roberge (Manchester, N.H.) who one-touched the ball over the head of Saint Michael's goalkeeper Ashleigh Adams to round out scoring.
Penmen goalkeeper Samantha Whittier (Sutton, Mass.) recorded four saves in net for to record her third shutout of the season. Adams made three saves in 82:07 minutes of action before giving way to Aubrey Ouellet who was not forced to make a save. The Penmen outshot the Purple Knights 23-8 on the evening.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Saturday, when it travels to Le Moyne College for a 12:00 p.m. Northeast-10 Conference matchup.
