GARDEN CITY, N.Y.—Three different members of the Southern New Hampshire University women's soccer team scored goals to lead the Penmen to a 4-1 over Adelphi University in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday night. With the win, the Penmen improve to 6-5-1 overall and 4-4-1 in NE-10 play, while the loss drops the Panthers to 5-5 overall and 4-5 in league play.
Kaleigh Roberge (Manchester, N.H.) tallied the first goal for the Penmen 8:02 into the game on an upper corner shot that was taken from outside the 18-yard box. The unassisted goal would mark the only scoring in the first half as the Penmen carried the 1-0 lead into halftime.
40 seconds into the second period, Ariel Teixeira (Warren, R.I.) connected on an unassisted goal to give the Penmen the 2-0 advantage.
Ashley Jaskula (Palmer, Mass.) would then score back-to-back goals in the 54th and 56th minutes to put SNHU up by four. Her first goal of the game was taken from 10 yards out from the goal and was assisted by Roberge. Roberge would find Jaskula again two minutes later to feed the right-side shot from inside the keeper's box.
Adelphi would tally its lone goal of the game in the 71st minute as Donna Liotine scored on a penalty kick following a SNHU foul in the box.
SNHU goalkeeper Samantha Whittier (Sutton, Mass.) made five saves in net en route to the win. Adelphi goalkeeper Sam Whitney made just one save in net for the Panthers, who were outshot 10-8 on the evening.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Saint Michael's College at 7:00 p.m. on Larkin Field.
