Box Score WALTHAM, Mass. – Three players finished in double figures as No. 1 Bentley University jumped out to a 39-22 halftime lead en route to a 76-43 Northeast-10 women's basketball victory over Southern New Hampshire University at the Dana Center Saturday afternoon. The Falcons improved to 7-0 and 5-0 in the NE-10, while the Penmen are now 5-2 and 3-2 in the league.
Lauren Battista was 8-10 from the floor and finished with 17 points and eight rebounds to lead Bentley, while Jacqui Brugliera totaled 15 points and seven rebounds. Courtney Finn tallied xx of her 15 points in the first half for the Falcons.
Megan Smith (Smithfield, Maine) led SNHU with 11 points while Sloane Sorrell (Berwick, Maine) added six points. Brooke Springfield (Jaffrey, N.H.) totaled seven rebounds and six assists to go along with three points.
Bentley never trailed and opened up an 11-2 lead four minutes into the contest. The Penmen chipped away and got within six, 19-13, on a basket by Megan Spanarkel (Tinton Falls, N.J.) 9:31 before halftime. The Falcons closed the half outscoring the Penmen 20-7 and took a 39-20 lead into the locker room and put the game away by outscoring Southern New Hampshire 16-8 over the first five minutes of the second half to build a 55-27 lead.
The Falcons limited Southern New Hampshire to 29.6% shooting for the contest while shooting 44.8%. Bentley also held a 48-29 rebounding advantage.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action Tuesday night when it travels to Stonehill College for a 5:30 Northeast-10 tilt.
