Former Left-hander Golbranson Inks Contract with Worcester Tornadoes

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Former Southern New Hampshire University left-handed pitcher Steve Golbranson (Abington, Mass.) recently signed with the Worcester Tornadoes of the Can-Am League.  Golbranson, who pitched for the Penmen from 2008-10, made his debut for the Tornadoes Saturday, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning of relief as the Tornadoes fell to the Brockton Rox 5-1.

In a three-year career for Southern New Hampshire, Golbranson spent two seasons as a member of the starting rotation after serving as the team's primary reliever his first season.  As a junior in 2009 he finished 4-4 with a 3.84 earned run average, while as a senior he posted a 4.29 ERA while recording three wins and a pair of saves in two relief appearances.  His 113 career strikeouts place Golbranson 10th in program history in that category.

Worcester wraps up a four-game series with Brockton on Sunday before hitting the road for six games, three at the Pittsfield Colonials followed by a three-game set at the New Jersey Jackals.
