Box Score BOSTON, Mass.—Nine different skaters scored to lead the UMass Boston Beacons to a 9-0 ice hockey win over the visiting Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University on Friday afternoon in the 47th Codfish Bowl, hosted by UMass Boston. With the loss, the Penmen drop to 1-11-1 on the season, while the win boosts the Beacons to 5-5-2.
UMass Boston's Corey Chakeen would notch the Beacons' first goal just 1:11 into the first period, followed by a goal by Rob Florentino 32 seconds later. The Beacons would own a 3-0 lead after one period of play after a goal by Chris Wyman at the 5:17 marks.
The Beacons would tally two power play goals in the second period at the 9:17 and 14:18 marks. Faiz Khan and Jim Ennis were credited with the goals.
UMass Boston would add four more goals in the final frame as Mike DeGrazia, Anthony Fitti, Steve Weston, and Kyle Tejchma all netted goals.
Florentino and Fitti both added two assists in addition to their goals to lead the Beacons with three points apiece.
The Penmen were led by Zach Lubinski (Hudson, N.H.), who tallied a team-high four shots.
Penmen goaltender Tyler Holske (Attleboro, Mass.) took the loss in net, tallying four saves and giving up three goals in 5:17 before being relieved by Max Paluszynski (Moorestown, N.J.), who totaled 26 saves in 54:43. Kevin Bendel earned the win in net for the Beacons and totaled ten saves.
The Penmen were outshot 39-10 on the afternoon and finished 0-for-2 on the power play. The Beacons finished 3-for-8 with the extra-man advantage.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. against Johnson & Wales (R.I.) in the consolation game of the 47th Annual Codfish Bowl at the Clark Athletic Center Rink in Boston, Mass.
