PREVIEW: Penmen Hockey Hosts Johnson and Wales Saturday

THE MATCHUP: Southern New Hampshire will face Johnson and Wales for the second time this season Saturday at 7:30 for a non-conference game.

THE COACHES: Ken Hutchins is in his sixth season as head coach at SNHU...a 1987 graduate of SNHU, Hutchins previously served as an assistant for ten years before assuming the role as Head Coach... Hutchins has also led the Penmen to an appearance in the championship game of the ECAC Division II/Northeast-10 Conference Tournament in 2000, 2001, 2005 and 2006... Erik Noack is in entering his 10th season at the helm of the Wildcat hockey team. The ECAC Northeast coach of the Year in 2004-05, he is widely regarded as one of the top young coaches in the conference. He has guided the Wildcats to the brink of the NCAA Division III Championship after appearing in the ECAC Northeast championship game for the first time in school history in 2010.

THE SERIES: The Penmen saw the Wildcats earlier in the season in the Manchester PAL/Stovepipe Tournament. SNHU came out on top with a 2-1 win over JWU.

THE PENMEN: The Southern New Hampshire University ice hockey team is coming off of a 3-3 tie at Northeast-10 opponent Assumption College...freshman forward Jim Gabrione has a team-best nine points for the Penmen with four goals and five assists...sophomore Dane Caracino and freshman Joe Collins each have seven points apiece totaling two goals and five assists and three goals and four assists, respectively...goaltender Tyler Holske leads the Penmen goalies with 191 saves for a .905 save percentage.

THE WILDCATS: Johnson and Wales is coming off of a 4-1 win over Western New England University...leading the Wildcat offense is senior Danny Kaufman who has totaled four goals and four assists on the season...classmate Trevor Jewell has also added five points to the offense with his three goals and two assists...goalie Matt Cooper has totaled 300 saves for a .875 save percentage for Johnson and Wales.

WHAT'S NEXT: The Penmen return to action on Wednesday, December 12 when they host Nichols College for a 7:30 p.m. non-conference game.
