MANCHESTER, N.H. – Dipanjot Singh totaled 18 points off the bench to lead UMass Lowell to a 67-56 Northeast-10 men's basketball victory over Southern New Hampshire University Saturday afternoon at the SNHU Fieldhouse.  The River Hawks won their seventh in a row to improve to 16-5 and 12-5 in the NE-10, while the Penmen are now 11-11 and 7-10 in the league.

Singh finished 6-12 from the floor and knocked down a pair of three-pointers.  Akeem Williams was the other River Hawk in double figures, as he finished with 15 points and five assists.  Matt Welch drained three three-pointers and added nine points off the bench.

Aleksandar Dobrovic (Podgorica, Montenegro) led Southern New Hampshire with 13 points and six assists, while Elijah Bonsignore (Felton, Del.) added 11 points.  BJ Cardarelli (Manchester, Conn.) recorded nine points.

SNHU, which trailed 32-31 at halftime, took a 33-32 lead 44 seconds into the second half on a basket by Josh Morgan-Green (Upper Marlboro, Md.).  Williams put UML back on top for good on the next River Hawk possession, and the guests used a 14-1 run to open up a 53-38 lead with 12:31 left on a pair of free throws by Antonio Bivins.

The Penmen clawed their way back into the game, using an 8-0 run capped by a Dobrovic three-point play at the 3:26 mark to pull within five, 61-56.  Southern New Hampshire had a pair of chances to make it a one-possession game, but came up empty as the River Hawks scored the game's final six points to seal the victory.

The lead changed three times in the first three minutes of the game before UMass Lowell used a 10-3 run to open up a 17-10 lead with six minutes gone following a three by Welch.  The River Hawks opened up their largest lead of the first half, 22-12, with 11:19 left on a three by Scott Tavares-Taylor.  Southern New Hampshire chipped away at the lead and got it down to one twice, the last on a Tory Stapleton (Rahway, N.J.) basket 24 seconds before intermission that made it 32-31 in favor of UMass Lowell at the break.

UML shot 42% overall and the Penmen 40%, but the guests were 9-24 behind the arc, while Southern New Hampshire connected on just three of its 21 three-point attempts.  SNHU outrebounded UMass Lowell 36-31, but 17 Penmen turnovers turned into 24 River Hawk points.

Southern New Hampshire returns to action Wednesday evening when it travels to Franklin Pierce University for a 7:30 Northeast-10 contest.
