MANCHESTER, N.H- The Southern New Hampshire
men's cross country team opened its season Saturday at the
Shacklette Invitational hosted by Saint Anselm College. The team
would finish sixth out of seven teams earning a total of 187 points
on the day. Stonehill would grab the number one spot while the
first and second place finishers were Skyhawks runners.
The top runner for the Penmen was sophomore Garrettt
Hammond (Haverhill, Mass.) who finished 34th
out of 74 runners. Hammond would finish the 8K race in a time of
31:04. Freshman Chris Low (Hudson, N.H.) was the
second finisher for SNHU coming in 41st with a time of
32:03. Classmate Nathaniel Stiles (Berlin, N.H.)
would follow close behind Low while finishing 48th with
a time of 33:29.
Doug Coulters (Weare, N.H.) and Jason
Grotton (China, Maine) would round out the Southern New
Hampshire runners while finishing 60th and
69th, respectively.
The Penmen return to action next weekend, September 15, when
they travel to UMass Dartmouth for the UMass Dartmouth
Invitational. The race is set to start at 11:15 a.m.
