MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University men's ice hockey team opens its 2013-14 schedule on Saturday, October 26 when it hosts the University of Rhode Island for a 6:30 p.m. exhibition game at the Ice Den. The Penmen will then open up regular season play the following Saturday, October 2 at home against Stonehill College for a Northeast-10 game. The match will open up a 24-game slate for SNHU this season.
During the month of November, the Penmen will be on the road for five contests, and at home for four. The annual Manchester Police Athletic League (PAL)/Stovepipe Tournament will close out the month taking place November 30-December 1. SNHU will host the University of New England in the first game of the tournament, and will have an opportunity to play for the championship against either UMass Boston or Johnson and Wales on the second day.
Southern New Hampshire will wrap up pre-holiday play on December 7 at Western New England University, and will return to action on January 4-5 when they compete in the Codfish Bowl at UMass Boston. The Penmen will return home for back-to-back home games, and will close out January at Stonehill on the 25th.
February will bring five league contests, including two home games against Assumption on the first, and the final regular season game against Stonehill on February 8. The squad will close out regular season play on the road taking on Assumption and wrapping up at Franklin Pierce.
The four-team Northeast-10 Tournament opens with semifinal play on Saturday, February 22, with the two semifinal winners meeting for the championship the following Saturday (March 1).
