Box Score MANCHESTER, N.H. – Southern New Hampshire scored twice in the second half to post a 2-1 Northeast-10 women's soccer victory over Stonehill College Wednesday evening at Larkin Field. The win snapped a three-game slide for the Penmen as they up their record to 4-4-1 and 1-3-1 in the NE-10, while the Skyhawks are now 3-5-2 and 3-2-1 in the league.
After a scoreless first half, the Penmen got on the board at the 54:39 mark. Senior Bethi Ledoux (Westborough, Mass.) played a through ball to sophomore Gabby Cappello (Andover, Mass.), who got past a Stonehill defender and fired a low shot past keeper Amy Wheaton for her second goal of the season. Southern New Hampshire made it 2-0 in the 79th minute when a high arcing shot from 30 yards by freshman Alexa Poulin (Tewksbury, Mass.) hit the crossbar and deflected off Wheaton for Poulin's first collegiate goal.
Stonehill spoiled SNHU's shutout bid with 1:49 remaining when Carolyn Moodie scored off a right-to-left corner kick from Meagan Elliott.
Wheaton made five saves for Stonehill, while Samantha Whittier (Sutton, Mass.) did not make a save for Southern New Hampshire. The Penmen held a 12-5 shot advantage for the game and had four of the game's six corner kicks.
Southern New Hampshire returns to action Saturday night when it hosts Assumption College in a 7:00 Northeast-10 contest at Larkin Field.
