Box Score WALTHAM, Mass. – Jasper Grassa went 6-9 from three-point land and totaled 20 points as Bentley University posted a 69-46 Northeast-10 men's basketball victory over Southern New Hampshire University at the Dana Center Saturday afternoon. The Falcons, who snapped an eight-game losing streak, improve to 8-15 and 6-13 in the NE-10, while the Penmen are now 13-10 and 9-10 in the league.
Grassa paced three Falcons in double figures. Tyler McFarland finished with 18 points and seven rebounds, while JP Koury added 11 points.
Rodney Sanders (Linden, N.J.) and Elijah Bonsignore (Felton, Del.) led Southern New Hampshire with 10 points apiece. Bonsignore also registered eight rebounds and three blocked shots.
The two teams traded the lead six times in the early going before Bentley took control with a 9-0 run capped by a Shakir Phelps jumper that gave the hosts a 19-15 lead with 8:49 to go before halftime. A three by CJ Marriro (Boston, Mass.) 5:15 before intermission tied the game at 22, but the Falcons closed the half on an 11-0 run and took a 33-22 lead into the locker room.
Bentley outscored Southern New Hampshire 15-5 over the first 6:37 of the second half to open up a 48-27 lead on a three-pointer by Grassa. The Falcons opened up their largest lead, 64-38, with 4:13 to go on another Grassa three.
The Falcons connected on 11 of their 23 three-point attempts and shot 39.3% overall while limiting the Penmen to just 26.6% shooting for the contest. Bentley was 14-15 from the free throw line while SNHU was 6-11, and the hosts outrebounded Southern New Hampshire 49-36.
Southern New Hampshire heads to Stonehill College for a 7:30 contest Wednesday night. The next Penmen home game is Saturday, February 23 when they host Merrimack College in a 1:30 game.
