SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Three Southern New Hampshire University ice hockey players were honored by the Northeast-10 Conference Wednesday morning as the league released its annual All-Conference teams. Jim Gabrione (Boca Raton, Fla.) was named as the NE-10 Rookie of the Year, while junior Tyler Holske (Attleboro, Mass.) was named to the NE-10 Second Team. Joe Collins (Mansfield, Mass.) and Gabrione each received All-Rookie Team accolades as well.
Gabrione, who led the Penmen in points with 22, was also among the league leaders in scoring while ranking 11th in the conference. The first-year forward who totaled 10 goals (7th), and 12 assists (tied for 15th), aided the Penmen to the Northeast-10 Conference Championship semifinal round. He was also the go-to man down the stretch for SNHU as he was tied for second in the league with two game-winning tallies on the season.
Classmate Collins finished the season just one point shy of Gabrione while totaling seven goals and 14 assists on the season for 21 points.
The forward appeared in 23 contests while recording at least a goal or an assist in 16 games for SNHU. The duo combined for 43 of Southern New Hampshire's 147 points along with 17 goals, and 26 assists.
Holske appeared in 20 games for SNHU while earning 20 starts, and totaled a team-best 551 saves on the season along with a .893 save percentage. The junior posted three shutouts this season, including two in a five game winning streak that earned the team a berth into postseason play. The goalie has compiled 1,859 saves over his three-year career to place him third in the record book for career saves thus far.
