MANCHESTER, N.H. – At the recent NCAA Convention in
Dallas, Southern New Hampshire University's Dr. Douglas
Blais, a faculty member in SNHU's Sport Management program
and the Faculty Athletic Representative at the University, was
named to the NCAA Division II Management Council to represent the
Northeast-10 Conference.
The Management Council is a
governance group whose composition is based on conference
representation and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of
Division II. These duties include, but are not limited to:
implementing policies adopted by the Association's Executive
Committee and the Division II Presidents Council; making
recommendations to the Division II President's Council on
matters it deems appropriate; making interpretations of the bylaws
of Division II; and organizing and participating in an annual
summit with the Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Dr. Blais has been a member of the
faculty at SNHU since 1996. An advisor for Southern New
Hampshire's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Blais
is also a member of the NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel (PROP),
the Committee for Infractions and the Committee on Diversity.
Dr. Blais, an active collegiate soccer official, is a former
student-athlete for the Penmen, serving as a goalkeeper for the
SNHU men's soccer team from 1984-87.
