NORTHEAST-10 WEEKLY ICE HOCKEY REPORT
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Jim Gabrione (Boca Raton, Fla.) of the Southern New Hampshire University ice hockey team was named Northeast-10 Player of the Week as announced by league offices Monday afternoon.
Gabrione scored twice and also had an assist in an 8-4 conference win over Saint Michael's College last Tuesday. The sophomore assisted on the Penmen's first goal of the game, a power play tally from Jay Sylvia (Acushnet, Mass.), and scored his first goal of the game, and tenth on the season in the second period. The forward then went on to score the last goal of the game in the final period, and his tenth on the season on a power play opportunity. As a team, SNHU was perfect in converting power play opportunities, going 3-3 in the win.
Gabrione is second on the team in points with 21. He has totaled 10 goals and 11 assists on the season, good for third in the league in scoring. He is also second in the league and on the team in power play points with 13, scoring five times and assisting on eight goals. The Penmen lead the conference in power play percentage with 36.1% (26/72).
The Penmen return to action tomorrow, January 14 when they host Westfield State in a non-conference game at 7:30 PM.
