THE MATCHUP: The Southern New Hampshire hockey team hosts Assumption College on Saturday for a Northeast-10 Conference game at 7:30 PM.
THE SERIES: Southern New Hampshire holds a 26-27-3 record against Assumption College all time, and defeated the Greyhounds earlier this season on November 23 by a score of 3-2.
THE PENMEN: Southern New Hampshire is coming off of a 4-2 loss against Stonehill College this past Saturday in a Northeast-10 matchup...sophomore Joe Collins is leading the Penmen along with the league in scoring with 15 goals and 15 assists for 30 points...the forward also leads both in power play goals as well with nine on the season...classmate Jim Gabrione is second on the team and conference in scoring, with 25 points, tallying 13 goals and 12 assists...Jay Sylvia scored the game winning power play goal against Franklin Pierce last Tuesday night for the Penmen...the goal was his sixth of the season and fourth with the man advantage...Tyler Holske is 10-6-1 overall and has faced 509 shots thus far on the season, stopping 454 of them...the senior goaltender has a 3.21 goals against average, good for fourth in the conference...he also had a .892 save percentage on the season that puts him sixth in the conference.
THE GREYHOUNDS: Assumption is coming off a 4-1 loss to Saint Michael's last Tuesday...freshman forward Ryan Gomes leads the team in scoring with five goals, seven assists, totalling 12 points...sophomore forward Alex Erban is tied for second on the team in points with 11, notching five goals and six assists on the season...tied with him is senior forward Kyle Zobler who has totalled 11 points through four goals and seven assists...senior goaltender Bobby Bowden has started 11 games for the Greyhounds this season going 2-8-0...he has faced 403 shots and saved 369 which is good for a .916 save percentage and ranks second in the league.
WHAT'S NEXT: The Penmen return to action Tuesday, February 4 when they travel to Saint Anselm for a 7:00 PM NE-10 Conference game. They return home on Saturday, February 8 for a league matchup against Stonehill for a 7:30 PM puck drop.
