BOSTON – The Southern New Hampshire University men's cross country team finished ninth at the 2014 Boston Mayor's Cup at Franklin Park on Saturday. The event, which featured both club and collegiate cross country squads, consisted of 178 runners and 13 teams.
Freshman Tyler McLaren (Pepperell, Mass.) was the top Penmen finisher on Saturday and the fourth collegiate competitor to complete the eight-kilometer course. McLaren posted a time of 26:23, which was good enough for No. 51 overall.
Junior Michael Bisbee (Ashburnham, Mass.) navigated the course in 26:33 on Saturday, which placed him seventh among the collegiate ranks and 61st overall. Graduate student Devin Bennett (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) and freshman Andrew Tuttle (Alton, N.H.) were the next two Southern New Hampshire student-athletes to complete the race, each posting times of 26:58 with Bennett narrowly edging Tuttle. Sophomore Jacob Wormald (Pelham, N.H.) rounded out the Penmen top-five in 27:26.
Senior Chris Low (Hudson, N.H.) registered his second-best 8K performance of the fall with an official time of 27:52. Freshman Bryan Spooner (Pepperell, Mass.) finished in 29:10 and sophomore Justin Barcomb (Burlington, Vt.) completed the list of Southern New Hampshire runners in 30:17.
The Penmen will return to action on Sunday, Nov. 9 when they travel to Franklin Pierce University for the 2014 Northeast-10 Conference championship.
