MANCHESTER, N.H. – Four players reached double figures as the Southern New Hampshire University men's basketball team cruised to a 94-36 win over Suffolk University in its season opener Friday night at the SNHU Fieldhouse.  The Penmen improve to 1-0, while the game is considered an exhibition for the Rams.

Elijah Bonsignore (Felton, Del.) led Southern New Hampshire with 15 points, with 13 of those coming in the second half.  Sophomore newcomer Devin Gilligan (Amherst, N.H.) totaled 14 points on 5-6 shooting, while Rodney Sanders (Linden, N.J.) scored all 12 of his points in the first half.  Aleksandar Dobrovic (Podgorica, Montenegro) added 11 points and six rebounds. 

Suffolk was led by Sam Nwadike's 16 points and nine rebounds, while Adam Chick added 11.

Southern New Hampshire never trailed and opened a 20-2 lead just under seven minutes into the game following a Gilligan dunk.  The Penmen opened a 30-point cushion, 43-13 at halftime, as Jeff Demezier (Delray Beach, Fla.) knocked down a three as time expired.  SNHU opened the second half with 15 unanswered points and maintained a comfortable margin the rest of the way.

The Penmen shot 55.6% for the game, went 15-19 at the free throw line and knocked down nine of their 21 three-point attempts on the evening.  Southern New Hampshire held a 44-36 rebounding advantage and 11 of the 12 players who saw action got in the scoring column.

SNHU opens Northeast-10 play on Wednesday, November 19 when it travels to Saint Anselm College for a 7:30 contest at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.
