MANCHESTER, N.H. — The Southern New Hampshire University ice hockey team will have the opportunity take to the ice at Manchester's Verizon Wireless Arena, home of the Manchester Monarchs on Saturday, Feb. 14. The reigning Northeast-10 Conference champion Penmen will host the SUNY Canton Roos at 6:30 p.m. The game is being played as the second half of a doubleheader with the Monarchs, the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings, who square off with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 3 p.m.
"The Monarchs are happy to partner with Southern New Hampshire University and the United Way for this unique doubleheader," said Matt Welch, Executive Vice President of the Manchester Monarch. "The team has a large number of employees who have graduated or are currently enrolled at SNHU, so we are extremely excited about strengthening our relationship with SNHU while also benefiting the United Way."
Tickets are available to the general public for $20 and will provide admittance to both games. Granite United Way focuses on investing in education, income and health by fostering initiatives that tackle the root causes of problems to create lasting change.

Southern New Hampshire will be the title sponsor for Manchester's game, which will feature a ceremonial puck drop, promotional activities, a question and answer session with prospective Sports Management students, and school promotional materials in the concourses.

"The chance for our men's hockey team to play in New Hampshire's premier sports venue is an amazing opportunity for the players, coaches, fans, alums and students. In recent years, the Verizon Wireless Arena has also hosted collegiate hockey events such as the NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Northeast Regional Championship and regular season contests for University of New Hampshire. The Verizon Wireless Arena has a seating capacity of over 10,000, and includes 542 club seats and 34 suites.
